Abstract:
|
"While universities are developing robust academic success initiatives, academically distressed students often still feel isolated and unheard on our campuses. We address this concern by weaving together two narratives. The first is of a student facing academic difficulty who, with the assistance of support resources, has overcome challenges. The second is of the development of the NYU Back on Track Program, a comprehensive support program designed to provide academically at-risk students with resources and advisement to ensure they reach their fullest potential. Utilizing both narratives and data, we model a program administrators can adapt for their institutions despite size, endowment, or demographics and analyze the impact such a program can have on retention and graduation.
