Abstract:
|
In Auburn University's Crop, Soil and Environmental Science and Poultry Departments, teaching students to monitor degree progress, pursue challenging opportunities, and craft career goals takes a true team approach. Here professional academic advisors and faculty mentors work collaboratively with students to foster rewarding and productive undergraduate advising experiences. Vital to this approach is providing informative and engaging professional trainings for faculty mentors who utilize their knowledge and network connections to link students with career and graduate school opportunities. Those faculty members with experience in mentoring graduate level students understand the role of a mentor. Helping faculty members establish similar relationships with an undergraduate population requires support resources and training that an experienced professional advisor is more than capable of providing. |
