Abstract:
|
Student-faculty interaction is key to fostering student success. Anecdotal evidence from students shows that many have the mindset that 'going to the office' is a negative experience. Faculty Coaching, a program to foster connections between students and faculty, is hosted by professional advisors who have developed a rapport with freshmen through orientation, FYE, and pre-registration. Four years into the program, faculty buy-in is booming and more than 100 students attend each night. Data show what we already knew: students who interact with faculty through this program are being retained at a higher rate than most populations on campus. We will discuss details of the program: logistics, faculty buy-in, retention data, and the advisor-faculty partnership that enabled this program to grow exponentially. |
