Title: "Graduate Students Deserve Love, Too": Creating a Purposeful Framework to Support the Overall Graduate Student Experience
Lead Presenter: Jamie Heck
Date: October 02, 2018    Time: 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Room: N 130
Abstract: "A survey conducted by the Council of Graduate Schools and the Graduate Records Examinations Board of 625 U.S. institutions reported enrolling more than 1.8 million students in graduate programs in Fall 2016. As the graduate student population increases at many institutions, there is a greater need for departments and institutions to examine the advising and support services provided to graduate students.

This interactive discussion will focus on the implementation of initiatives to positively impact the overall graduate student experience. Established literature will be referenced and the presenter's experiences will be shared, providing a framework for creating an engaging and supportive graduate student advising experience. This presentation is appropriate for professional academic advisors and faculty advisors regardless of prior experience.
