Abstract:

Have you ever had a military student in your office and you did not know how to connect with them? How to help them connect with the university? How to teach them to be a successful college student? Military students are a unique population because most of them have been in the real world, held jobs, maybe seen combat, and possibly have a family to support. Throughout their military career, these students have been told what, when, where and how to do their job. In college, however, they often perceive they are expected to figure out everything on their own. This interactive session will offer guidance and encourage discussion about how to better understand and connect with this important student population. |
