Abstract:
|
David Spight (2016), past NACADA president, stated that advisors should be scholar-practitioners so they can become more effective advocates for students and bring about institutional change. The recent opening of the NACADA Center for Research at Kansas State University not only highlights the importance of advisor engaging in research, but is a call to action. Yet, as advisors, we know how hard it can be to conduct research when there are students, colleagues and deans at our door. During this session, we will share resources and opportunities to help advisors further develop as scholar-practitioners. We will also share best practices we have found helpful when balancing our roles as advisors and scholar-practitioners and will ask attendees to do the same. |
