"Graduate education, particularly in the field of biomedical sciences, has experienced a call for modernization to strengthen the preparedness of students for a diverse set of professional options, yet there is no mention of the role of academic advising in the related discussions. This presentation shares the perspectives of an innovative approach that has elevated the role of professional academic advisors and led to a cultural shift in the graduate education experience from a biomedical sciences graduate program. Participants will learn about the evolution of this model for graduate student advising and dialogue about innovative approaches campuses may take to strengthen advising and services for graduate students.
