Abstract:

The goal of this presentation is to provide resources that help Latinas navigate their path toward leadership roles in higher education. Much of the literature that addresses higher education leadership is focused on the deficits that exist for women and women of color in particular. While it is important to be able to recognize, identify and deconstruct existing obstacles, Latinas, although a small number, have attained higher education leadership roles. This presentation will promote testimonio as a strategy that advisors can use with Latinas to encourage and promote envisioning a future through intentional counter storytelling. |
