Abstract:

The purpose of this symposium is to share with participants a unique First Year Experience program named, 'The Pineapple Club,' which uses career, academic, and co-curricular engagement to retain first year students. Participants will learn about the program's format and year-long activities, including monthly workshops throughout the year, required one-on-one advising sessions, assignments, and projects. When the students complete the program, they are eligible for scholarships intended for Pineapple Club members only. This symposium presentation will provide participants an example of a successful program that will help students find their home in higher education. |
