Session #: 005(LEC)
Title: Advising Re-Design: Moving from Transactional to Relational
Lead Presenter: Mysha Clincy
Date: October 01, 2018    Time: 10:15 am - 11:15 am
Room: N 131 B/C
Abstract: St. Louis Community College (STLCC) is one of the largest community colleges in the State of Missouri and has some of the lowest graduation and retention rates. In order for STLCC to be a viable player in the education and training market, there had to be a great paradigm shift that would start with advising services. STLCC decided to take their advising services from transactional to relational. Come and learn how STLCC went from a 'we are here and they won't come' model and to a case management model using proactive advising to improve graduation and retention rates. Attendees will also learn how Navigate was used to help facilitate student engagement to make sure students were on the right track.
