Abstract:
|
Student advising enhances the success and persistence of students at our post-secondary institutions. Providing guidance and support, from trained professionals (both faculty and staff) is not new to higher education, but is often under researched, in particular, in the Canadian context. This session will outline a national study conducted in early 2018, sharing the voices of professionals working in the field of advising. The results describe the current state of advising in Canada and work to chart a course forward for organizations and institutions to support the modern day student through the practice of advising. It also serves to inform the advising research agenda and contribute a much needed Canadian perspective. |
