Abstract:
|
Increasingly-and from a variety of sources-there is great pressure on higher education to increase the percentage of students finishing post-secondary credentials and to decrease the time to completion. Academic advisors help guide students as they develop skills to navigate degree programs, and that role means advisors are in a position to support this completion agenda. With that central position, however, come high expectations, especially given the lack of research supporting a direct connection between advising and retention or completion. This session will explore the key elements of the completion agenda. Through discussion, participants will explore how the completion agenda is currently affecting their advising practice and implications for the future. |
