Lead Presenter: John Sauter

Room: N 227 A
Abstract: Technology can enhance and improve advising practices. ACPA/NASPA (2015) noted that professionals must consider the developmental and dynamic applications to student learning that competence in technology provides. However, advisors may struggle with how to effectively use technology and experience inconsistent and inequitable use among colleagues. This session will consider how adopting comprehensive technology training can influence and improve day-to-day advising practice for professionals and students. Best practices to integrate technology into advisor training and development to enhance advisor competence will be explored. Join us for an interactive discussion as advisors from institutions from across the country weigh the benefits of technology training, propose solutions for creating efficiencies and address the overwhelming nature of technological change and challenge of limited budgets.
