Abstract:
|
Only 18% of Chicago Public School students earn a 4-year college degree, compared to 22% nationally. As more students are choosing to go to college, how are universities ensuring their success? Pathways is National Louis University's new undergraduate program with the goal of closing the opportunity gap in bachelor's degree attainment for traditionally under-served Chicago students; mainly first-generation, Pell-grant eligible, students of color with an average 2.6 high school GPA. The Student Success Coach model is an essential component of the holistic supports provided to all students. It utilizes faculty partnerships, real-time data, high-touch intrusive advising, and personalized strengths-based engagement to defeat retention odds. Come learn about some of our best practices for ensuring student success! |
