Abstract:

In this hands-on session, we show how we used advising platform to increase students' participation in academic planning and advising at Tufts, Elon and Carnegie Mellon University. We will share how this collaborative platform reduced mechanical tasks for advisors and empowered students to discover degree/course pathways themselves using Web Application strategies used previously by Netflix, Facebook, and other high-engagement platforms. For colleges facing retention and student engagement challenges, we will share ways they can adopt and test these technologies within a semester.
