Abstract:

Presenter: Diana "Di" Fritz Dingman, Indiana University-Bloomington
We are being asked to do more with Excel by running reports and sending outreach. Our academic advising skills are being pushed to new frontiers as we incorporate skills beyond our abilities, just like Dr. McCoy's famous expletive-"D---it, Jim!"-when stretched beyond his expertise.
The focus of this presentation will be a practical, technology-based activity to learn how to use mail-merge with Excel spreadsheets when customizing communications. After this session, participants will be able to immediately create personalized emails with unique characteristics (e.g., name, course grades). Your outreach communication productivity and student responsiveness will increase with customized messages.
Let the Star Trek theme inspire you to travel to a new technology frontier. Explore the use of mail-merge and seek out new outreach communications using Excel. Boldly go where other academic advisors have gone before. |
