Generation Y & Z's Perception of the Role of an Academic Advisor
In 1996, students in Generation Y were given a questionnaire to complete to ascertain their perception of the role of an academic advisor. These students attended a traditional four-year Carnegie Comprehensive Doctoral/Research University. In 2019, the students in Generation Z completed the same questionnaire, but one of the differences is that Generation Z students attended a predominately associates degree granting Liberal Arts state college, which is an Open Access (no testing or test scores are needed to apply; just a GED or a high school diploma). They too, were given an opportunity to express their opinion of the responsibilities of an academic advisor. In this presentation there will be a comparison of the results of their responses.
