Title: Bad News Bearers: Navigating Difficult Conversations
An unfortunate aspect of being an advisor is that when we're doing our job right, we are sometimes going to have to deliver bad news. It's challenging to enact university policy and encourage persistence and resilience at the same time. This session will focus on strategies for advisors to help navigate these choppy waters, including shifting from a judgement to a contribution mindset, why intentions do and don't matter, and cultivating curiosity. These conversations will never be fun, but these strategies can make them easier to manage. |
