Abstract:
|
Effective onboarding is essential to student success, advisor efficiency, and equitable access to institutional resources. This session introduces a scalable, student-centered onboarding framework that connects student experience processes, student responsibility, and academic advising engagement through coordinated communication and cross-functional collaboration. Participants will explore an eight-stage model spanning admission through orientation, including workflow design, communication timing, accountability checkpoints, and advisor outreach. The presentation aligns with the conference theme by positioning onboarding as the 'middle space' where people, purpose, and possibility intersect to support meaningful student transitions. Attendees will engage in process-mapping activities and receive adaptable templates, implementation tools, and assessment ideas that can be applied across institutional contexts. Designed for professionals attending the NACADA Annual Conference, this session offers practical strategies to strengthen early engagement, reduce barriers, and create more intentional connections between students and advisors. |
