Abstract:
|
Behind the gates of our institutions, academic advising practitioners serve as partners in student success. We balance different worlds on campus: (1) serving as student advocates, (2) interpreters of academic policies and procedures, and (3) embracing new eras in the higher educational landscape. There have been many renaissances of the profession as our roles continue to evolve. They have led to complex explorations and challenges. The need to rebuild and strengthen the field, enabling greater transparency among staff, administrators, and executive leadership in the sharing of the following chapters. The reality is, we need to engage in a greater exchange of ideas. We must become the artists to help shape the future of academic advising. Join a pop-culture journey to learn how to sustainably "whoop it up" and avoid flipping tables. |
