Abstract:
|
Institutional policies and long-standing practices often evolve with good intentions - yet over time they can create unintended friction that slows student momentum. This session invites advising administrators and executive leaders to examine how policies, procedures, and informal practices shape the student experience. Participants will explore how to identify structural barriers, audit policies through an equity and efficiency lens, and determine what should be streamlined, redesigned, or sunset entirely. Through facilitated dialogue and peer exchange, leaders will leave with a practical framework for evaluating policy impact and accelerating student progress without sacrificing accountability or rigor.
Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
- Identify institutional friction points that impede student progression
- Apply an equity and efficiency lens to evaluate policies and procedures
- Distinguish between necessary rigor and unnecessary complexity
- Develop a short list of policies or practices to streamline, redesign, or sunset
- Create an action step to initiate policy review conversations on their campus |
