Abstract:
|
Transitioning into college is a critical period for first-year students, influencing their academic and personal development. Research shows that students who form at least four meaningful connections during their first semester are more likely to persist into the second semester. This presentation will explore how relationships with peers, faculty, and staff contribute to student success, enhancing emotional well-being and academic performance. Participants will learn research-backed strategies such as peer mentorship, faculty engagement models, and campus programs designed to foster connection and reduce isolation. This session will provide practical insights into building relationship-driven initiatives that increase retention and student engagement. Attendees will leave with concrete examples of successful programs and actionable techniques to support students through their academic and social transitions. |
