As advisors, we absorb the emotional strains of our students. While the work we do may lift and empower them, it can lead to compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress, and burnout for us. We know what we need to do to take care of ourselves, but how often do we actually do it? Having professional communities of care can make a difference in our emotional and mental health. Our session dives into the importance of developing and nurturing your professional relationships. Drawing from both research and their lived experiences, presenters will help you explore how you and your squad can support one another, optimize your overall wellness, and keep you thriving in advising! |
