Abstract:
|
Advising Leadership Core Competencies
To be effective institutional change-makers, advising administrators need training and development in areas different than those required of the advising teams they manage and lead. The NACADA Core Competencies model has served as an integral framework for training and developing advisors, but the need for core competencies for advising administrators is clear. Building on a collaborative research project, presenters will discuss the seven emergent leadership competencies for advising leaders. Mid and senior level advising professionals will continue discussion about the knowledge, skills, and understanding required in their work. The intended outcome is to provide a set of competencies for advising administrators from which to develop skills and knowledge that will benefit them, their staff, and the institution where they work. |
