Abstract: The Advanced Mentoring Program (AMP) is our approach to advising and mentoring incoming students at our small residential college. This program was designed prior to COVID-19 but positively addressed some of the impacts of the pandemic. AMP addresses the whole student and provides structure to build a team of individualized student support through early matching of students with advisors, three linked class and seminar meetings each week, dedicated advising time, links to career preparedness through the liberal arts, and considerable campus collaboration. We will discuss these structures and quantitative and qualitative outcomes from our first year of implementation, as well as how we have responded to COVID and embraced the flexibility of the programming to support the student transition to college across their first two years.
