Abstract:
|
As a faculty advisor you know your degree program. You know that you work side by side with full-time advisors to support students and help them succeed. You also know how the university works, what all the acronyms stand for, how to get things done, and who to turn to with specific questions. Additionally, you have a closer relationship with your students: you see them for three hours a week and know where they are academically, what they want to be professionally, and how to help them get there after graduation. From this case study, you'll see how an experienced Spanish professor and academic advisor guides students from lower-division to upper-division language courses facilitating the study abroad experience and recommending specific courses to prepare them for their career beyond the university. |
