Abstract:
|
Thinking of AI as an Augmented Intelligence tool for academic advisors, this presentation focuses on how advisors can positively influence international students' use of AI to navigate and manage their communication and find connections while learning best practices for avoiding academic dishonesty. International students face numerous challenges in academic institutions, and as advisors, our ability to connect with them and be empathetic to their problems is critical to their retention and success. Artificial Intelligence is here to stay, and the need to explore its intersection with academic advising has never been greater. Pulling insights from humanistic advising principles, we will explore the benefits and drawbacks of AI and how it may shape conversations and relationships between students and advisors to improve student's educational outcomes. |
