Abstract:

What are the anchors for academic advisors to engage relational competencies of academic advising? A Pedagogy of Kindness (Denial, 2024) explores kindness as a way of being within higher education practice and how kindness can be integrated into curriculum, instruction, assessment, and self-management. This session will apply kindness pedagogies to the field of academic advising. Participants and presenters will explore the strengths and edges of kindness when working with students, identify kindness-informed strategies that can be practiced in academic advising contexts, and relate kindness pedagogies to their own personal philosophies and practices. |
